The classic movie Wizard of Oz ends with Dorothy saying "There's no place like home". Dorothy wasn't happy with her ordinary life on the farm. She wanted more and imagined that life over the rainbow would be better. and decided to run away, But her plans went awry when a tornado touched down nearby. Dorthey barely made it home before the house was grabbed and twirled in vicious circles until it landed somewhere over the rainbow and killed the wicked witch of the East This infuriated the witch of the west and she vowed revenge. But the only way out of her situation was to follow the yellow brick road and see the wizard of Oz.
Dorothy headed down the yellow brick road and met some helpful friends along the way.; a scare crow, Tin man and cowardly Lion. Together they followed the yellow brick road, saw the wizard and killed the wicked witch of the west. The news of her death brought about a celebration and the wizard promised to take Dorothy home. After a lot of fan fare, Dorothy and toto were about to go home, when the unthinkable happened. Toto saw a cat and went after it. Dorothy climbed out of the balloon to go after toto and the balloon lifted off leaving her behind.
How would she get home now? Dorothy had forgotten about the shiny red shoes given to her by the good witch of the north, until the witch of the north appeared and told her she'd always had the power to go back home. So with three clicks of her heels, she was back home.. . and there's no place like home.
Have you ever felt discontented with your life? We all have at some point or another. But the grass isn't really greener on the side of the fence or over the rainbow. I'm not saying we shouldn't have hopes or dreams for a better life, I'm saying we need to learn to be content in whatever situation or stage life we're in at the time. When we learn to be content and grateful for what we have; we begin to experience true happiness, contentment and peace.
My husband and I are in our senior years and have come to realize we didn't need all the stuff we'd collect over the years.. So we've been downsizing for almost two years. . . the older you are the longer it takes LOL Our goal s to downsize to the point we could live in a two bedroom apartment in a senior complex. Living in a two bedroom apartment would save us a lot of money. We wouldn't have a house payment, HOA fees, landscaping costs and our utilities would be cheaper. But the most important benefit is the peace of mind and contentment that comes with having less and living better.
